Do you or someone you know sometimes struggle with depression? Do you ever find yourself worried about the smallest things or always defaulting to negativity and gloomy expectations? If so, you’re not alone. Millions of Americans like you struggle with this problem every day, and the number is on the rise. When news recently broke of the suicide of actor and comedian, Robin Williams, many asked how someone who spent so much time making us laugh could be chronically depressed. But the danger of this illness is that it often lurks behind the smiling faces of people we know and love and never suspect of suffering from despair. What can we do to help? How can we prevent depression in our own lives and the lives of our friends and family?
Our guest, Dr. Richard O’Connor, is a psychotherapist, author, and expert on the subject of preventing and treating depression. He is the author of the book, “Undoing Depression,” and he’s going to help us better understand the causes of depression and how we can help ourselves or someone we know break free from it.
